AROUND PLITVICE – A Partnership Project by Slunj Tourist Board, Plitvice Valleys Tourist Board & Cetingrad Municipality
At the crossroads of forests, rivers, and scenic trails connecting the beauty of Lika and Kordun, the Around Plitvice project was born – a story of collaboration, nature, and active tourism.
This initiative brings together the Tourist Board of the Town of Slunj, the Tourist Board of the Plitvice Valleys area, and the Cetingrad Municipality, linking three areas adjacent to Plitvička Jezera (Plitvice Lakes). The route follows natural rhythms and cycling paths stretching from Saborsko and Rakovica, through Slunj – Rastoke, all the way to Cetingrad.
The project is supported and funded by the Croatian National Tourist Board through the Fund for Joint Tourist Boards.
Connected by Nature and Trails – From Plitvice to Cetingrad
The goal of Around Plitvice is to jointly promote a region where untouched nature, active tourism, and rich cultural heritage meet.
The area offers ideal opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts – cycling, hiking, walking along forest trails, and exploring villages, rivers, and scenic viewpoints.
Around Plitvice connects:
Plitvička Dolina – Saborsko and Rakovica,
Slunj – Rastoke,
Cetingrad and surrounding areas,
creating a unique natural experience where every visitor can enjoy peace, activity, and inspiration.
How It All Started – 2024
The project began in 2024 with a press trip hosting journalists and bloggers from across Croatia. LINK
The first phase aimed to promote the shared region through authentic stories, media reports, and digital content, highlighting the area’s beauty and potential.
This initial step laid the foundation for cooperation and demonstrated the importance of joint promotion for the recognition of the region around Plitvice Lakes.
Continuation in 2025 – Video, Photography, and Eco Actions
In 2025, the project continued with several key activities:
Filming a promotional video connecting Slunj Rastoke, Plitvice Valleys and Cetingrad,
Professional photography highlighting nature, outdoor experiences and sustainable tourism,
Eco-actions and trail maintenance for walking, hiking, and cycling paths.
These activities reinforced the project’s message: nature, sustainability, and collaboration are the foundation for regional development.
