Our Tradition Culture – From the Treasury of Narrative Wealth

We have transformed the stories of the Rastoke residents into written words and brought their distant memories into life. By travelling through them, we reached a small part of our contemporary lives. The stories of the storytellers are the very memories of their ancestors’ lives and that is the new wealth of our area; something that has never been written in the traces of the historical topics.

Every story is special in the abundance of narrative treasure and – in addition to the facts and anecdotes – they all have the same theme, which is a lot of love for our area and for the preserving of the Rastoke uniqueness.

Every story has assumed another dimension for better understanding our heritage. The storytellers not only broaden our horizons, but change our very nature as well, because we look at the world with completely new eyes.

The life stories will be a useful source for future exploration of the Rastoke history. So, if you have a story, you can put it into our ‘Rastoke mailbox’, because every mill has its own story and its own proud people, through whom the life of Rastoke, Slunj and the surrounding area is revealed.
