In destination Slunj Rastoke you may choose from a handful of cultural, sports and educational events throughout the year.
This Calendar for 2025, brings together the major festivals, events, holidays and celebrations slated for this year in destination Slunj Rastoke. In Tourist Board Slunj, we hope it comes in handy for planning your Croatian travel itinerary.

An important note about events in Slunj Rastoke Destination
The dates for most festivals in Slunj Rastoke are not confirmed until a few weeks (or sometimes a few days) in advance. Seasonal events, such as Koranski susreti, are weather-dependent and difficult to predict.
As much as we’d love to create a neat and tidy calendar graphic, it’s just not possible! The best we can do for some of these events, is give you approximate dates.
We will return to update each section as soon as the dates for 2024 are confirmed.
April in Slunj Rastoke Destination
EASTER FAIR

Visitors can expect exhibitors with small animals, local products and handicrafts as well as Easter Eggs Workshops and animation for children.
May in Slunj Rastoke Destination
DANCING BRIDGES
● 1 May, 2025
● Rastoke
Dancing bridges in Rastoke are dance performances and workshops held by visiting professional pedagogues. Fun and relaxing event in nature, above the waterfalls of river Slunjčica, combined with art workshops, whose participants create work of art inspired by the beauty of Rastoke, traditional architecture and life at the waterfalls.

A gathering of photography enthusiasts in Rastoke. Everyone can participate – amateurs, professionals and non-photographers. All that is needed for participation, is good will.
PARADE OF THE HISTORICAL UNIT OF THE TOWN OF SLUNJ
● 17 May, 2025
Gathering of the members of historical units from Croatia, in memory of the historic battle at the Austrian fortress Predil in 1809, in which soldiers of the 4th Border Slunj Regiment participated. The colorfulness of historical clothing and rich program will further revive promenades in Rastoke and the area along the Old town of Slunj and Town Square.
The parade starts at 4:30 pm in the Town Park, proceeds to the Rastoke and Old Town of Slunj and ends at Frankopan and Zrinski Square.
FREE WALKING TOUR WITH QIGONG EXERCISES

- Starting point: Tourist Information Center Rastoke

Stroll through nature in the company of a local tourist guide and with qigong exercises. This activity is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
June in Slunj Rastoke Destination
WELLBEING WEEKEND ON THE WATER
- 14 June, 2025
Immerse yourself in forest bath, sound bath and yoga, and take in beautiful natural surroundings. On Saturday and Sunday will be held several workshops, wellbeing program, a jazz concert and other outdoor activities along Korana and Slunjčica rivers.

Children’s mini-football tournament at the town football field.
ZBOR U LAĐEVCU
- 15 June, 2025

A village church feast in honor of St. Vitus. After the mass, the gathered believers stay in front of the church for conversation and entertainment.

Guided walking tour with poetry recitals and outdoor performances.

BEARSTONE FESTIVAL

A gathering of the rock music, nature and art enthusiasts. The element of music on Bear Stone festival is represented by bands playing desert rock, psychedelic rock, fuzz rock and various experimental rock subgenres. Psychedelic art installations and superb video projections further enrich the festival program, but unique location is what truly distinguishes Bear Stone festival from other festivals.

On Korana river, a program of this traditional manifestation consists of an outdoor music with food and drinks and a recreational sports and entertaining competition of teams in games on water and around it.
NIGHT FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

Entertaining night of futsal in Slunj. Tournament is held on two days – matches between groups is played on Friday night, while the final event is on Saturday night.
BIKE NIGHTS

● Location: area previously known as military barracks Kneja Slunj – Svetice
Gathering of moto enthusiasts, organized by MK Poskok Slunj. Motorcycle rally has nightly concerts and serves food from local food trucks.
DAYS OF THE TOWN OF SLUNJ

Become a firefighter for one day
● 1 August, 2025
● Town football field
Entertaining manifestation organized by Voluntery Firefighting Brigade Slunj. The visitors can learn how to prevent a fire, but also how to use firefighting equipment and feel the adrenalin rush well known to firefighters while putting out the fire.

STARS UNDER THE STARS

A poetry night Stars under the stars takes place in Rastoke, under the open sky, surrounded by relaxing sound of waterfalls and murmur of water.

Event organized by Red Cross Slunj, where children participate in various activities and sports games.
The Exhibition promenade
● 3 August, 2025
● Rastoke
The Exhibition promenade celebrates local heritage of Slunj area.
Program takes place on the promenades in Rastoke, with the view of waterfalls, where rivers Slunjčica and Korana meet together. Local producers are presenting different local products, food and beverages. Costumes and customs of Slunj area are also displayed. In addition to performing folk songs, the program includes performances of various artists, as well as historical presentation of heritage from medieval times and times of Frankopan, through the Military Frontier and the French administration to the present day.

Brđanijada, Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders

Brđanijada is entertaining competition in traditional old sports – throwing stones, long jumps, carrying water…, followed by concert of a local band, Oaza, in the evening.
The day of the town of Slunj

● Slunj Town Park, Church of the Holy Tinity Slunj, Zrinski and Frankopan Square
The celebration of Slunj Town Day will include a walk along the Paths of Storm (Putevi Oluje), a Holy Mass, laying of wreaths, a formal session of the Slunj town Council, and an evening musical program.
On Zrinski and Frankopan Square, one of favorite Croatian band, Prljavo kazalište, will perform on an open-air summer evening concert on the Day of the Town of Slunj.

ROKOVO – FEAST OF ST. ROCH
• 16 August, 2025
• Cvitović
One of the biggest folk festivals in Slunj region, Feast of St. Roch, takes place on August 16 th, the anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Roch. Celebration takes place at the local church in the village of Cvitović and includes liturgies and folk performances.
SLUNJ EVENING OF “BEĆARAC”

Everyone who enjoys listening to Bećarac, the most popular song of this area, and a protected world cultural asset of intangible heritage, will be able to attend the jubilee 10th edition of the Slunj’s Evening of Bećarac.

FOLKLORE GATHERING “RADUJ NAM SE, SLOVIN GRADE”

The public festival of the Slunj region, “Raduj nam se, Slovin grade”, is held on September 8th, on the feast day of Nativity of Mary. This event brings together many folklore associations that present songs, dances, costumes and customs of Slunj area.
MILL DAYS AND RESTAURANT WEEK

Mill days is an autumn event that celebrates the arrival of autumn and the local heritage of milling. At this event, visitors can listen to stories about mills, local legends and learn about the history of milling. Program also includes demonstration of how the water wheels and millstones are turned by the power of water and live performance of the milling activities. For the full experience of the milling, the workshops and free of charge guided tours are available. Throughout the day, the visitors can enjoy the music and authentic local cuisine.
As part of Mill Days, between September 15th and September 21th, the Restaurant week is held, an event where local restaurants serve dishes containing some of the milling products from Rastoke.
RASTOKE TRAIL

Rastoke Trail is a sports event that brings together sports and nature lovers in a unique location. Start of the race is in Rastoke. You can choose from a long, short, recreational or family trail, paths, following the flow of rivers Slunjčica or Korana or path through the forests Melnica or Glavica.
ON PATHS OF THE CROATIAN SOLDIER

explore Rastoke with a local guide dressed as a 18th century Croatian soldier from Slunj´s region. This walking tour is free of charge and everybody is welcome.
October in Slunj Rastoke Destination
THE AUTUMN HIKE
● 4 October, 2025
● Start: Tourist Information Center Rastoke
Explore and experience Slunj region through thematic tours organized by the Tourist Board Slunj. On the weekend of October 5th, enjoy the most beautiful hikes in Slunj area, free of charge. Explore Slunj in several ways: a historical themed walk at 11:00 am and a night tourist walk in Rastoke at 5:00 pm.
MIHOLJE IN NIKŠIĆ

● Church of St. sv. Mihovil in Šušnjara, Nikšić, Slunj
The feast of St. Mihovil, the patron saint of the church in Šušnjara. The celebration takes place in the local church and includes liturgies. After the mass, the gathered believers stay in front of the church for conversation and entertainment. Folklore associations also perform in folk costumes of their region.

A traditional gastro-ethno event: “Masnica” (traditional strudel) competition, Kestenijada – chestnut festival.
November in Slunj Rastoke Destination
REMEMBERANCE DAY

The Rememberance day of the exile and occupation of Slunj area is marked with an appropriate program on Nov 16th every year.
FOLKLORE EVENING

Concert of traditional etno music for all lovers of song, dance and folk costumes.
December in Slunj Rastoke Destination
BOŽ‘ĆEVANJE ON THE BRIDGES OF SLUNJ
● 29 November, 2025 – 31 December, 2025
Wonderful walk in nature, crossing the bridges in Rastoke and culinary delicacies to enjoy! Along to events in Rastoke, Slunj offers many activities throughout the town, like Santa’s bus ride, concerts on the Town Square and making of traditional Christmas ornaments. The program will be held from the first to the last Advent weekend, but also for the New Year’s Eve.
